SC State House in Columbia, SCLobbying Day with Better Ballot SC
Prior to our IRV/RCV Rally we're going to lobby our representatives. Giving municipalities the option to use IRV is the first step on our journey to full implementation of IRV. We will meet at 10:00am for a quick rundown beforehand. We will then go to the Statehouse lobby to speak to our legislators.
The rundown will be held at Statehouse steps (1100 Gervais Street). We will hand out materials and conduct a quick review of all training materials before going to the Statehouse as a group. All attendees must attend a Lobbying Day training prior to attending Lobbying at the Statehouse. Two will be held: January 23 and January 26.

South Carolina Statehouse in Columbia, SCIRV Day Rally 1, 2, 3
It's as easy as 1, 2, 3!
Join us at the South Carolina Statehouse for our 3rd Annual IRV Rally on 1/28/25 to make our voices heard!
In January of 2023, we held our first rally. Not only did we celebrate in person with fellow supporters from across the state, but we also announced our instant runoff voting municipal option bill. That bill is going to be reintroduced at the beginning of the session. Rally with us to support instant runoff voting!
Use your voice to get our fellow South Carolinians MORE VOICE and MORE CHOICE! We'll be there from 2-4pm for speakers and demonstrations, plus IRV swag!
Please also join us for Lobbying Day. We'll educate our legislators about IRV and invite them to visit the rally.
After the rally, we will be gathering for Food and Fellowship at the Girl Scout Building at 1107 Williams Street.
Speakers
Representative Dr. Jermaine Johnson (D-52)
Lead Sponsor of H.3589

Main Charleston Library in Charleston, SCBBSC February Statewide Call: Charleston
Please join us for this special holiday meeting. Our goal is to get the business done quickly and then have a holiday hang out.
Are you interested in becoming a part of the voting reform effort in South Carolina? Let's expand instant runoff voting (also known as ranked choice voting) in South Carolina and give voters More Voice and More Choice.
We've been working to educate voters about this common sense upgrade to the way that we currently vote. Join us to Better the South Carolina Ballot by RSVPing for our monthly statewide strategy call.
We're hybrid! Location: Main Charleston Library, 68 Calhoun St, Charleston, SC 29401. Prepare for a fun, informative time. We will begin the meeting virtually with a statewide recap and then break into local groups. Please arrive 15 minutes early to situate yourself and to chat with fellow supporters. Can't make it in person? That's alright too. You can join your local group virtually!
If you are attending in person, we will be holding a canned food collection drive. Help us fill Blessing boxes in the Charleston Area.
Curious how it works? It's as easy as 1, 2, 3! Join the call and we can go more in depth, but here are the basics:
When voters go to the polls, instead of voting for one, they rank their candidates. This gives voters More Voice and More Choice. If a voter's top choice has no path to victory, their vote is transferred to their second choice. This ensures majority support while eliminating costly runoffs. It also has some other great benefits:
- Reduces polarization and mudslinging
- Eliminates the spoiler effect and vote splitting
- Increases representation
