Runoffs are costly to South Carolinians and they generally have a much lower voter participation rate than the regular election. Below please find a list of some of the costs municipalities have to bear in order to find majority support for candidates.

This support could be found more efficiently with instant runoff voting.

These costs are in addition to the regular election held two weeks prior.
