+ The right should not fear Ranked Ballot, (voters ranking candidates in order of preference, counting the first choices, and then, if noone has fifty percent, adding in the next, and so on, til someone, most exactly in the middle, finally does, a sort of averaging of the opinions of all participating). It would give us All Powers To Their Lowest Appropriate Level (among other things) & inescapably, Sharing the Work, (the workweek attached to the unemployment rate), What with RB’s equal chances for not just all parties, but all combinations of programs, someone would always be there to stand for FRUGALITY. Both going into debt by cutting taxes or by increasing non-capital expenditures are unsustainable. but with STW a rising tide would ASSUREDLY lift all boats. Because it resulted in STW, RB would result in world transforming prosperity. + STW would so increase the relative cost of all mechanisms of oppression as to make them prohibitive, (the equivalent of soon enough having the defense portion of your taxes back in your pocket), create such prosperity as would amount to virtual GLOBAL Reparations (& all that great soft power), mean no corporation would ever again be too big to fail, prevent an organized labor circular firing squad from chasing increasingly empty dollars into the ground (while dragging Freedom-Democracy with them), end the NEED for most welfare, and it’s attendant bureaucracy, (keeping families together), end inflation, deflation, downturns, irrational exuberance, foot-dragging & make-work, & hence Global Warming, reduce class antagonism, permanently smooth the business cycle,.give us a safer, fairer and more frugal path thru future pandemics, mean noone would ever have to keep a job they didn’t like & give workers all the Unity and Liberation they could want. Workers, being always assured of more work, would be motivated to be as COOPERATIVELY productive as possible, like Amish raising a barn for neighbors The longest journey is begun with a single step. + Easiest to explain “Additive” RB is counting the first choices, and then, if noone has fifty percent, adding in the next, and so on, till someone, most exactly in the middle, finally does. Among the arguments against the usually espoused Eliminative form of RB (“RCV”) is that it is confusing & doesn’t count everyone’s votes equally, but Additive RB was just explained in a single sentence, and counts everyone’s vote so long as it counts anyone’s. What could be fairer. + Even Libertarians have been for SOME government spending: canals, roads, rails, interstates, colleges, trade & technical schools, & even repair (& upgrading) of SECONDARY roads & bridges (though that would most effectively be left to localities, in the long run, which RB would certainly make possible.) Everyone & everything needs to carry its own weight, so we can know its true value. Things that have already achieved general approval should no longer need aid, like local infrastructure (or broadband, when there’s already cellular internet), so as to avoid the moral hazard of letting things decline while waiting for the right party to get elected to national office. + RB would also give us A Perfect Marriage Of FREEDOM With An Eye For Justice And Justice With An Eye For FREEDOM, & create a path for putting country above party. Noone for their own Freedom, their neighbors’, community’s, State’s, Country’s or World’s, or any good thing, could not be for RB Anything else would be short-sighted & self-interested. Once RB is adopted, America will be the shining city on a hill the founders must have had in mind. + RB would result in an INERRANT attention to FRUGALITY. A party would always exist, with a real chance of winning, that was dedicated to it. Such Child Tax Credits as were, for instance, would be limited to two kids per couple (one per parent), or gradually decreased for each additional. It would result in free websites for candidates who make the ballot, a kind of Electronic Big Brother House, which would put the lie to the last excuse for Democratic Centralism’s authoritarianism, that it’s needed to defend the revolution from usurpation by monied interests. Taxing consumption, not investment (with exceptions for bascs) would become possible, as well as taxing stock transactions, (making investing less about speculation) & making doing away with the IRS more than just another slogan, perhaps even by the (consumption decreasing & investment increasing) Value Added Tax. It would give us Women’s Equal Representation (half of all boards & committees, from juries to the Senate & SCOTUS a woman, & one of each legislative district’s TWO reps of each gender), thereby shaming all misogynistic authoritarian regimes & gaining great soft power + RB has virtually consistently won in a wide range of places, economic, ethnic and ideological. It would take back control of rampant technology, cause such government aid as was to be loan-based, (before incentives, before subsidization, before grants before “projects”), thereby eliminating corruption inducing government picking of winners & losers, (as would STW’s more minimal government). + STW is the manifestation of the union of the reportedly antipodal Principles of Freedom and Justice, as ANY truly FAIR system would be, but RB needs to be installed NATIONALLY to be effective in this. + We already have a 40 hour workweek, and could have gone with a shorter one during the pandemic, (to spread the burden and reward, save all that money & have space & time to SOCIALLY distance from each other, coming & going), so STW should not be totally unprecedented or unthinkable. + The two party system is really only any good in an emergency. We could have passed over Iraq & solved Afghanistan first, or made both them or the South Vietnamese adopt RB, but how could we if we did not have it ourselves. With all those guns and bombs, aid and money, lives, sacrifice and suffering, and sex and drugs and Rock n Roll, had we been on any sort of correct side, we could not have helped but turn the Ho Chi Minh Trail completely around. (Odd that we, with a Presidential system, gave the Japanese and Koreans Parliamentary ones, while the French, with a (then) purely Parliamentary system gave Nam a Presidential one, a sort of modern day anti-miracle, passing mere irony.) The EU makes structural demands on its member states, but somehow we couldn’t on the South Vietnamese. Had we helped the Ukrainians fight their Russian inspired rebellions from the start, Putin would have been much less likely to try his variously justified adventure. tt is not possible that he didn’t realize that the citizens of the Democracist West would never allow their governments to threaten their comfort by militarily invading Russia, except in case of self defense. + RB would also give us bills & motions brought up in number of cosponsors order, random committee assignments, (not by seniority or appointment by bosses: letting those with interest testify, not decide), committee chairs chosen by secret RB of committees members, heads of chambers chosen by secret RB of chamber members, heads of more controversial agencies confirmed by supermajorities, banning Congress from dealing in bonds & securities while in office, & some time afterward, gradually decreasing subsidies for fossil fuels in favor of renewables (cause 150 miles North & 50 years later, it NOW never sticks more than a couple of days) & Freedom-Democracy & Feminist Indexed Tariffs. + While Australia & New Zealand both have RB, they also have virtual two-party systems, only more responsive ones, yet the Prime Minister ends up being the leader of the largest party, so pols have less to fear than they apparently suspect. + There is no Freedom without Democracy and no Democracy without Freedom, a two edged sword, & a false distinction. FREEDOM-DEMOCRACY & FEMINIST INDEXED TARIFFS to penalize untoward behaviors & structures, and lessen the threat of the Reverberating Military Industrial Complex SYNDROME. Outside of mandatory domestic/NATO procurement of all defense items, and Freedom-Democracy-Feminist indexed tariffs, everything else would create the greatest good by being as free trade as possible. STW would be the DEATH KNELL of Authoritarianism. It amounts to the virtual END of Politics.+ Ninety percent of all human genetic material is held in common, giving new meaning to False Categorization of Superficial Characteristics. Bigger fish to fry. “If any has ought against you, go & make straight your path with them, while they are still in the way, & then go into the temple to pray.” + RB must give us all this despite the no doubt deep special interest opposition on both sides, but it also needs to not be installed sneakily, in only localities, (out of fear it won’t then deliver on the desired result?), but rather adopted everywhere, for the suffering world’s sake, as well as our own.Contact
